Follow the Charles “Julio Foolio” Jones Homicide Court Proceedings — State of Florida v. Alicia Andrews
The court case of the woman accused of helping plan the murder of Florida rapper Julio Foolio is now underway in Hillsborough County Court.
The state alleges that she worked as a lookout while the victim was celebrating his birthday. They claim she communicated with others who later ambushed the rapper in a Tampa hotel lot.
Three gunmen allegedly opened fire, killing him and injuring three others.
Andrews is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Detectives have presented digital evidence that they say connect her to the crime. This includes deleted texts and videos recovered from her phone.
Her defense attorney argues that she didn’t know what the others intended to do. The defense says she was in Tampa for personal reasons.
The case is being followed closely by court Julio Foolio trial watchers because the killing is linked to gang tensions.
Current testimony has focused on police testimony, with forensic experts explaining how they tracked cell phone activity across Florida.
